Crimes, violence and other discriminatory acts are multiplying against Moroccans residing in Spain. Faced with the scale of the situation, several human rights organizations are sounding the alarm, calling on the Spanish authorities to act.
According to the study "Coronavirus Pandemic: Major Impact on the Moroccan Community in Spain" conducted by the Think Tank Policy Center for the New South, the economic and health crisis will have detrimental consequences for the 812,412 Moroccan nationals living in Spain, in addition to the 250,000 naturalized since the year 2000.
There are more than 262,000 Moroccan workers affiliated with the social security system in Spain as of the end of October 2019. These figures have just been published by the Spanish Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security.
