At Transavia, flights to Morocco are considered too demanding to be scheduled back-to-back
Flights to Morocco are subject to special rules at Transavia in Rotterdam. The cabin crew union considers them more demanding and wants to prevent them from accumulating within the same week.
According to the Dutch Association of Cabin Crew (VNC), this workload is not due to the length of the journey. It is reportedly linked to the number of passengers requiring assistance, additional baggage and the language difficulties sometimes encountered on board.

“When a flight is particularly demanding, the fatigue is felt for the rest of the week,” explains Chris van Elswijk, president of the VNC, quoted by Up in the Sky.
An agreement therefore provides that a cabin crew member based in Rotterdam should be scheduled in advance for only one flight to Morocco per week. A second rotation remains possible when they are called in from standby duty.
Up to three flights in the same week
When the new route to Oujda was launched, these rules were not properly incorporated into the scheduling software. Some employees were assigned two Moroccan rotations in the same week, and even three in one case.
Alerted by the union, Transavia acknowledged its error. The employees concerned will receive an additional day of leave, including when the flights are already listed in upcoming schedules.
The measure concerns the Rotterdam base. From 7 September, schedules will once again have to comply with the agreement limiting the accumulation of these rotations.

This compensation is therefore intended to rectify a scheduling error and enforce the rule designed to distribute the flights considered the most demanding more evenly over the course of the same week.
