The controversy was sparked by a post by Senegalese player Pape Gueye. He shared images showing him lifting the Africa Cup during a celebration in Paris, celebrating what is considered a fictitious title. Moroccan footballers, including Ismaël Saibari, Oussama Targhalline, Eliesse Ben Seghir, Yassine Kechta and Chadi Riad, interacted with these photos posted by Gueye and his compatriot Ismail Jakobs.
