Bali: Alcohol, Drugs, Modified Weapon and an Injured Moroccan
A man suspected of shooting and injuring a Moroccan in a nightclub in Bali attempted to leave Indonesia for Kuala Lumpur. His escape was stopped at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, near Jakarta.
The shooting occurred around 2:50 a.m. at a nightlife establishment in Canggu, in the south of the island. According to police, the suspect, who had consumed alcohol, argued with other patrons before a security officer intervened.

The man then pulled out a weapon and fired once. The bullet struck the officer in the left thigh, then a 25-year-old Moroccan national in the knee. Both injured men were hospitalized. Another witness received glass fragments to the back of the head during the fight.
Intercepted before his departure for Kuala Lumpur
After the incident, the suspect went to the island of Java and attempted to board a flight to Malaysia. He was arrested through a coordinated operation between Bali police and the immigration services at the airports of Jakarta and Denpasar, reports Antara Bali.
Tests carried out after his arrest revealed the presence of THC, MDMA and amphetamines in his system. As his health was deemed compatible with detention, he was placed in police custody as part of the investigation.
The weapon used had been registered since 2021. However, police found that it was equipped with a 9-millimeter-caliber barrel, whereas the authorization concerned a .32 caliber. The origin of this modification remains to be determined.

The suspect faces up to fifteen years in prison for firearm-related offenses. A second charge for violence resulting in serious injuries carries a maximum sentence of five years.
