Belgium Mandates Masks in Mosques Amid COVID-19 Surge
As of November 20, wearing a mask is mandatory in mosques in Belgium for people aged 10 and above, in accordance with the health measures decreed at the national level.
In a press release, the Executive of Muslims in Belgium (EMB) explained that these provisions are taken to curb the spread of Covid-19 recorded in the country in recent weeks.
The EMB also reminds that additional measures are still in effect in the Brussels-Capital Region.
For Muslims, this means presenting themselves at the mosque in a state of ablution, disinfecting their hands when entering and leaving the mosque, bringing a personal and individual prayer mat, and observing social distancing of (1.5 meters between each group of 8 people).
These provisions must be strictly respected to preserve public health, concluded the EMB.
