Carpets, pottery, leather: The whole world is snatching up "Made in Morocco" products
The Moroccan craft sector achieved a historic performance in 2025 with exports exceeding 1.23 billion dirhams, up 11%. This momentum is driven by the carpet segment and the national tourism recovery.

According to data reported by Médias24, the past year has been one of the best economic sequences of the decade for the industry. Carpets, pottery, leather and traditional decorative objects dominate international sales. Lahcen Saadi, Secretary of State for Crafts, confirms an upward trajectory supported by increased integration into global trade circuits.
The United States maintains its position as the leading market for the Kingdom’s craft products, followed by France, Spain and Italy. Alongside these traditional strongholds, the industry is accelerating its diversification towards emerging markets and strengthening its presence on e-commerce platforms to capture solid international demand.
The synergy with the tourism sector remains the main catalyst for this growth. The flow of foreign visitors directly feeds the turnover in the medinas, enhancing the Moroccan cultural heritage. "The results confirm the relevance of the strategies put in place to improve quality and support craftsmen," says Lahcen Saadi.
For the year 2026, the authorities aim to consolidate this lever of economic development through:
• The digitalization of marketing channels.
• Strengthening quality labels.
• The structuring of local cooperatives.
However, a shadow hangs over these prospects: the current geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could, if they persist, impact tourist attendance, on which the financial balance of the craftsmen closely depends.
