The Competition Council has decided to investigate the causes of the surge in prices of several products in Morocco, in order to verify whether this situation is solely the result of exogenous shocks or if certain increases are not linked to illicit practices.
In a context of rising global prices, the Competition Council has called on all economic players to respect free competition, regarding the pricing of goods, products and services.
The rise in table oil prices on the Moroccan market is attributable to "the structure of the market itself" and to "developments in the foreign market on which it is dependent", according to the Competition Council.
The Competition Council has just denied the information that it had sanctioned the oil companies.
