Counterfeit Euro Scam Busted: Two Arrested in Moroccan Town for Fake Currency Scheme
In Ouled Ghanem, a locality located in the province of El Jadida, the Royal Gendarmerie arrested two counterfeiters. They are accused of circulating counterfeit 50 euro bills.
According to Aujourd’hui Le Maroc which reports the case, it all started with the purchase of a mobile phone. An ill-intentioned individual posing as a Moroccan resident in Belgium bought two mobile phones from a merchant in Ouled Ghanem. To settle his bill, the forger handed over six 50 euro bills.
Later, the merchant, having realized the deception, filed a complaint and an investigation was immediately opened by the Ouled Ghanem gendarmes. A week later, as if nothing had happened, the same forger, accompanied by his accomplice, returned to the region. This time, the two forgers chose a café to commit their crime. Immediately alerted, the gendarmes arrived and arrested them.
A thorough search of their vehicle allowed the gendarmerie elements to find 130 counterfeit 50 euro bills, according to the same source.
