Denmark opens a new work permit to sixteen countries… excluding Morocco
From January 1, 2027, certified Danish companies will be able to recruit nationals of sixteen countries outside the European Union more easily. Morocco is not on the list, unlike China, India, Brazil and Ukraine.
The Danish Parliament adopted, on Thursday, September 3, the law creating a new pathway to residence and work for foreign employees. The scheme targets companies covered by a collective agreement and previously certified by the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration.

To be eligible, the employee must hold a full-time job, earn at least 322,000 Danish kroner per year — approximately 43,000 euros — and receive their salary in a Danish bank account, specifies Dansk Industri.
The employer must notably have at least ten full-time employees, have been operating for two years and comply with Danish rules on wages, working conditions and safety.
Sixteen nationalities selected
The new permit will be reserved for citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, China — including Hong Kong —, Japan, Australia, Canada, India, Brazil, Malaysia, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Ukraine and Moldova. Morocco is absent from this list included in the work of the Danish Parliament.
The countries were selected according to three criteria: their weight in investments made with Denmark, their status as candidates for the European Union engaged in accession negotiations, or the existence of a bilateral mobility agreement. Morocco does not fall into any of the categories selected for this initial list.

Beneficiaries will be able to start working quickly after submitting a complete application, paying the fees and registering their biometric data, without waiting for the final decision. The permit may be issued for three years, then extended for periods of up to four years.
