Driver Charged with Voluntary Homicide in Fatal Collision with Moroccan Gendarme
The judges of the Rabat Court of Appeal have retained voluntary homicide against the driver who fatally hit a gendarme on Friday, October 4, on the road connecting Rabat to Harhoura.
According to the Maghreb Alyaoum website, the 29-year-old student, who was driving a German sports car at over 110 km/h, was placed in the local prison in Salé, Laarjat. Holder of dual Moroccan-Dutch nationality, he faces a maximum prison sentence.
The victim, married and father of a child, succumbed to his injuries at the resuscitation services of the Military Hospital of Rabat, on the night of Friday, October 4 to Saturday, October 5. He was buried in his hometown of Khénifra.
On Friday, October 4, a driver in a German car fatally struck a Gendarmerie Royale officer who was trying to stop him for speeding. Trying to flee the checkpoint, the young man, who was accompanied by his fiancée, ran over the victim.
