The official date of Eid al-Fitr in France will be set this Wednesday evening. The religious commission is meeting for the traditional Night of Doubt, marking the end of the sacred month of Ramadan for Muslim believers.
As indicated in the press release published by the Great Mosque of Paris, the body responsible for this solemn announcement is gathering on March 18, 2026 at 5:30 pm. This decisive meeting takes place at the dusk of the 29th day of fasting of the Hijri calendar 1447.

To rule on the completion of this month, the theological committee will combine two complementary approaches. The members will indeed "take into account the observations of the new moon as well as the results of astronomical calculations" in order to determine the day of the festival with precision.
To anticipate the large influx expected to celebrate this breaking of the fast, the institution has already adapted its morning organization. Two successive prayers will exceptionally be led on the day of Eid (8:00 am and then at 8:45 am).

Finally, the religious authorities invite the faithful to multiply good deeds during this last decade and remind them of the obligation of Zakat al-Fitr. For this year, this purifying alms is set at seven euros per dependent person, an amount identical to the daily compensation.
