Franco-Moroccan Politician Elected Mayor of Saint-Ouen, Shifting City Left
With 38.09% of the votes, the Franco-Moroccan Karim Bouamrane, 47, is elected the new mayor of Saint-Ouen, replacing William Delannoy (UDI). He managed to swing the city back to the left, six years after the election of his predecessor.
At the end of the second round of the municipal elections, Karim Bouamrane obtained 38.09%, thus beating the outgoing mayor, William Delannoy (32.53%) and the candidate Denis Vemclefs supported by the PCF and the former FG mayor, Jacqueline Rouillon (29.39%), reports Le Parisien.
"Now, we have something to write, all together. Living in Saint-Ouen should no longer be an obstacle but a source of pride, an asset. We will build a beautiful city. A city of shared progress, of excellence for all..." committed the new mayor.
For the former footballer, a lover of the Red Star, "being mayor was not a dream [...] But it became an obvious choice throughout the campaign, it was written..." he says.
