French National Among Three Arrested in 5-Ton Cannabis Bust Near Casablanca
The National Brigade of the Judicial Police seized, on Thursday, 5.222 tons of cannabis resin, accompanied by the arrest of three individuals, including a French national of Moroccan origin. According to information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), these defendants would have links with a criminal network that excels in the international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.
The operation that led to the arrest of the accused was carried out in coordination with "the elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, on a farm in the "Oulad Maimoun" district, in the Had Soualem region, on the outskirts of Casablanca," according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in a press release.
In addition to the arrest of the three suspects, the police seized a light vehicle, a large sum of money that would come from criminal acts, and 150 tablets of chira carefully buried in a pit.
Pending the identification of all the contours of this case, as well as all the persons involved, the three defendants have been taken into custody, according to the same source.
