He Takes His Moroccan Wife to a Famous Religious Leader to Save Their Marriage… She Never Comes Back

Nasir Musa Idris claims to have married the Moroccan woman Khadija Diab in Morocco in October 2024. After completing the necessary formalities, he took her to Kaduna, in northern Nigeria, where the couple settled.

The situation changed on 16 September 2025. According to court documents consulted by the Nigerian press, Idris received a call from one of the sons of the famous Islamic preacher Sheikh Ahmad Gumi. His wife had reportedly complained about him, and the religious leader wished to receive her for a marital counseling session.

The husband agreed and personally took Khadija to Gumi’s home. He says he agreed to leave her there because of the preacher’s reputation. Yet the two men barely knew each other: Idris had previously briefly introduced his wife to Gumi, notably because the religious leader’s wife is also Moroccan.

But Khadija Diab did not return to live in the marital home. Idris maintains that his attempts to bring her back failed and accuses Gumi, his wife, his sons and two of their relatives of holding her and exerting influence over her.

The Mediator Finds Himself Being Sued

Idris then initiated several proceedings before two magistrates’ courts and an Islamic court in Kaduna State. The complaints filed in April and May 2026 target Sheikh Ahmad Gumi and five other people, according to court documents detailed by Atlantic Post.

The Nigerian accuses them in particular of conspiracy, unlawful detention, trespassing, defamation and the use of forged documents. He also claims that 20,000 dollars and 6,000 Saudi riyals were allegedly taken from his home on 19 September 2025.

The conflict also concerns a document relating to the marriage. Idris claims that Gumi presented himself as Khadija’s legal representative before an Islamic court and provided inaccurate information. According to him, the document obtained was subsequently annulled by that same court, but continued to be used in other proceedings.

Attempts at reconciliation also reportedly failed. The husband says he had Khadija’s personal belongings delivered to her on 3 November 2025, but that they were returned to him. He accuses the preacher’s entourage of seeking to push him to dissolve the marriage.

The case resurfaced in early September after Idris gave a filmed interview to RFI Hausa. The man says that his wife, now 23 years old, is still with Gumi’s entourage, nearly a year after their separation.

He also accuses the religious leader of failing to respond to a summons from the Nigerian authorities. The media outlet that reported these latest statements nevertheless specifies that it was unable to verify either their basis or their exact nature. Sheikh Ahmad Gumi had not publicly responded to these accusations at the time of publication.
