His father died in Morocco and his mother returned to live in the Kingdom. Left in the Netherlands, a minor of Moroccan nationality found himself without parental supervision and without a fixed address. Dutch justice had to intervene to appoint a guardian for him.
The case appears in a ruling by the The Hague court, issued on June 24 and published only on August 14. The minor’s father died in Morocco in 2015. Since then, his mother had exercised sole parental authority.

The situation became more complicated when she returned to Morocco. According to the Dutch Child Protection Council, she now lives in the Kingdom and no longer has contact with her child. Since her departure, the minor has been staying in the Netherlands without parental supervision and without a fixed place of residence.
Justice entrusts the minor to Nidos
An emergency measure had already been taken on January 15, 2026: the juvenile judge had provisionally entrusted guardianship to the Nidos foundation, which specializes in particular in supporting foreign minors.
The Child Protection Council then petitioned the court in order to resolve the situation permanently. Although regularly summoned, the mother did not appear in the proceedings.
The court finds that the mother’s parental authority is automatically suspended since she is currently unable to exercise it. As the minor cannot legally remain without a representative, the judges decide to entrust guardianship to Nidos.
