King Hassan II's Historic Call: Morocco Skipped Eid al-Adha Sacrifice Amid Severe Drought
More than 20 years ago, the late King Hassan II had asked Moroccans not to sacrifice the sheep for the Eid al-Adha festival.

The reason is simple: the Kingdom had experienced one of the worst droughts of recent years a few months earlier, prompting the Sovereign to ask the population not to observe the Eid al-Kébir ritual.
The vast majority of Moroccans had followed the directives of the late King, but others, on the contrary, had decided to practice the ritual, despite this royal ban.
