16 km² of titanium: Morocco gives the green light to a Canadian group
The TitanBeach titanium project has reached a decisive stage in southern Morocco. After months of studies and exploration, Moroccan authorities have just granted a mining licence for the project’s first zone.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, August 12, by Canadian group Steadright Critical Minerals. According to the statement issued by the company, the licence for TitanBeach One was granted to NSM Capital, a Moroccan company in which Steadright holds 76.5%.

The authorised area covers approximately 16 km², representing a four-kilometre-by-four-kilometre zone. It forms part of the vast TitanBeach area developed along the Atlantic coast of southern Morocco, between Tan-Tan and Tarfaya.
The company officially filed its application for a mining licence in January. The application followed technical, legal and environmental work carried out on the project, as well as exploration campaigns launched since 2025.
Titanium- and iron-rich sands
TitanBeach aims to develop coastal sands containing, in particular, titanium and iron minerals. Previous sampling campaigns had highlighted significant concentrations in certain areas, strengthening Steadright’s interest in this part of the Atlantic coast.
The Canadian group has gradually strengthened its presence in Morocco. NSM Capital currently controls more than 192 km² of exploration permits linked to TitanBeach, to which new areas acquired recently are still to be added. Steadright has also increased its stake in the Moroccan company to 76.5%.
Obtaining the licence does not, however, mean that thousands of tonnes of ore will immediately be extracted from the site. TitanBeach remains a project under development, and several technical stages must still precede large-scale industrial operations.

This authorisation nevertheless changes the nature of the case. In January, Steadright was still asking Morocco for permission to move from exploration to mining activity. Seven months later, TitanBeach One now has the green light enabling the group to prepare for this new phase.
