Marrakech counterfeit euros arrest French national fake bills
A French man of Moroccan origin was arrested in the Marrakech region after paying for a meal with a counterfeit euro note. Nearly 70 forged banknotes were subsequently seized.
The case began at a restaurant located in the Ourika tourist area. According to Marrakechalaan, the establishment’s owner alerted the gendarmes after receiving a counterfeit euro note from a customer who came to lunch with a female companion of French nationality. The royal gendarmerie officers then opened an investigation on suspicion of possession and circulation of counterfeit currency.

The search, conducted in coordination with the national security services in Marrakech, made it possible to locate the suspect in a city hotel. A search of his room led to the seizure of approximately 70 counterfeit 20-euro notes. The suspect was placed in police custody as part of the judicial investigation supervised by the competent prosecutor’s office, in order to establish the circumstances of the case and identify any possible ramifications or accomplices.
