Revenues from historical sites in the different regions of the Kingdom have seen a substantial increase of 5.87 million dirhams between January and mid-July 2019, compared to the same period in 2016. According to the Ministry of Culture and Communication, a revenue of 90 million dirhams was recorded.
New sites have been classified under the "historic monuments" umbrella, by the Ministry of Culture and Communication (Department of Culture). According to the ministry, this approach is part of the implementation of its action plan aimed at protecting, enhancing and promoting the national heritage.
The opening of the archaeological site of Lixus at the mouth of the Oued Loukkos, near Larache, is just a matter of days. Indeed, on the occasion of the celebration of Heritage Month, the Ministry of Culture and Communication announced the date of April 20 to make this historic site accessible to the public.
