Moroccan Laprophan acquires Swiss Rivopharm European expansion
The Moroccan pharmaceutical group Laprophan has taken control of Swiss company Rivopharm. A first European acquisition that should accelerate its international expansion, from Europe to Africa via the Middle East.

Laprophan is crossing an important threshold outside Morocco. The pharmaceutical group has finalized the acquisition of a majority stake in Rivopharm, a Swiss company specializing in specialty medicines, file development, complex formulations and high-value pharmaceutical solutions. The transaction amount was not disclosed, but Rivopharm generates approximately 100 million dollars in annual revenue.

It provides an industrial and development base in Switzerland, as well as several European subsidiaries, including Rivopharm UK in the United Kingdom, Holsten Pharma in Germany and Sanoswiss in Lithuania. Rivopharm also has a portfolio of approximately 125 molecules and nearly 1,500 references distributed in more than 30 countries.

For Laprophan, founded over 75 years ago and already present in India, the United Arab Emirates and Côte d’Ivoire, the objective is clear: building an international pharmaceutical platform. Its president, Dr Farid Bennis, speaks of "a decisive moment" in the group’s history, with the ambition to build an industrial player rooted in Morocco, but now more present on European markets and in the B2B pharmaceutical segment.
