Moroccan Marathon Champion Suspended for 6 Years in Doping Scandal
Several athletes have just been suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), including the Moroccan Samir Jouaher, winner of several marathons in recent months.
In a decision handed down on December 14, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced the suspension of several athletes from Colombia, Bolivia, Italy and Morocco after a thorough analysis of the samples provided.
Thus, the Moroccan Samir Jouaher has been suspended for a period of 6 years following a positive test for a prohibited substance. This decision, effective since March 2023, also cancels his sports results since May 2022.
Jouaher, 38, had shone on the international scene, notably recording a time of 2:08:42 at the Riyadh Marathon this year, a dubious feat that contrasts sharply with his previous performances over 5 km and half marathon distances.
