Moroccan Nationals Lead Irregular Immigration and Unemployment in Catalonia, Report Finds
In 2020, 11.5% of irregular migrants in Catalonia are Moroccan nationals. They also represent the largest group of unemployed immigrants. This is revealed in a report by the Information Center for Foreign Workers (CITE).
According to the report, Moroccans represent 13%, Colombians 12.40%; 8.10% are Hondurans, 7.70% Peruvians and 6.70% Venezuelans. The majority of men and women come from Morocco with 57% men. In addition, Colombia and Morocco are the main providers of irregular immigrants in Catalonia, with 14.30% and 11.50% respectively, followed by Peru, Honduras and Venezuela with less than 10%.
Furthermore, the data from the CITE report shows that Morocco holds the record for unemployed immigrants in Catalonia. It alone accounts for 15.2% of this category in 2020.
