Morocco to Acquire $768 Million in Advanced US Missile Systems
The Royal Armed Forces will acquire a new battery of medium-range, self-guided AMRAAM missiles as part of a new military contract.
The new supply contract, linking Morocco to the company Raytheon Missiles Arizona, and estimated at 768 million dollars, will be used for the production of medium-range missiles, air training missiles, remote measurement systems and spare parts.
The self-guided AMRAAM missile, easily transportable by Moroccan fighter jets, is equipped with an anti-jamming system, allowing it to distinguish any form of interference and self-orient thanks to the guidance system installed.
The Moroccan army does not have a long-range air defense arsenal, unlike its Algerian neighbor, which had acquired a state-of-the-art Russian and Chinese air defense system.
Faced with this threat, the kingdom has turned to its usual supplier, the United States.
