Morocco Airport Bust: 2 Million Euros Hidden in Biscuit Boxes
A Mauritanian traveler was intercepted at Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport with more than two million euros undeclared, hidden in three cartons of biscuits. He was about to board a flight to Dubai.
The operation was carried out Tuesday morning by customs services, shortly before the check-in for a Royal Air Maroc flight scheduled for 2:15 a.m.

Alerted by the passenger’s behavior, agents took him to a control area to search his luggage. They discovered bundles of banknotes covered by biscuit box packaging.
More than 22 million dirhams
The traveler initially claimed he was only transporting sweets intended as gifts. However, the currency count revealed a sum exceeding two million euros, or more than 22 million dirhams, according to Assabah.
The judicial police were tasked with the investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office. The suspect had arrived in Morocco about twenty days earlier from Mauritania.

Investigators are now seeking to determine the origin of the funds and their exact destination. The lead of an organized capital flight network, in which the traveler allegedly acted as a courier, is notably being examined.
