Morocco avocado production heat wave 130000 tonnes
Moroccan avocado production could reach approximately 130,000 tonnes in the next season. However, this forecast remains conditional on an August without further heat waves exceeding 38 to 40 degrees.
Despite losses already caused by the heat, the sector still expects an abundant season. The volumes anticipated before the heat wave were particularly significant and the quantities remaining at the national level would remain high.

When questioned by FreshPlaza, Elyamlahi believes that the final harvest level will largely depend on weather conditions in the coming weeks.
The 40-degree threshold
If temperatures remain below 38 to 40 degrees, total production could reasonably reach 130,000 tonnes. Another period of heat stress during this critical phase could, however, further reduce available volumes.
Industry professionals are also optimistic about harvest characteristics. Fruits should be mainly medium and large caliber, with quality announced as excellent, continuing the progress made by the sector over recent seasons.
The schedule should not experience major changes. The start of the season remains scheduled for October, in line with market habits for Moroccan origin.
