In 2021, revenue from the vehicle sticker reached 3.7 billion dirhams, up 8% from a year earlier, according to the Directorate General of Taxes.

Moroccans can now pay their vehicle sticker online via the "Daribati" mobile app. It can be downloaded for free on the Play Store and App Store platforms.

The final deadline for paying vehicle stickers is set for January 31 for drivers of vehicles subject to the sticker tax. As of February 1, late payers must pay penalties and surcharges of up to 15% for the first month of delay and 0.5% per additional month or fraction of a month.

Heavily impacted by the coronavirus crisis, companies owning vehicles immobilized for a year or more can benefit from a temporary one-year exemption. All vehicles are concerned, except for passenger cars, other than certain 4x4s, minibuses and rental vehicles.

The Directorate General of Taxes wants to fight against unpaid fees this year. It reminded vehicle owners of their obligations under the 2021 Finance Act.

The 2021 Finance Act provides for a new measure to strengthen the fight against fraud related to the special annual tax on vehicles (TSAV), known as the vehicle sticker. This tax must be paid by January 31 at the latest.

Used car buyers must be vigilant from January 1, 2021. The government has just given itself a formidable weapon contained in the 2021 finance bill, to hinder fraudsters.
