The launch of SARF also accompanies the publication of a new version of the Instruction governing currency exchange activity. The Office notes that the last version dated from 2018. This instruction defines the conditions and procedures for conducting currency exchange activity by authorized operators.
In practice, exchange operations therefore go through an updated framework, with a single platform and updated regulations. For MREs, the challenge is mainly practical: changing currency in Morocco should be part of a more digitalized, better secured and more easily traceable process.
