Morocco's Exports to China Surge 9.4% in 2022, Led by Electronics and Minerals
Moroccan exports to China have seen a strong increase in 2022. Electrical and related industrial equipment, minerals and textiles and leather products are in the top 3.
Communicating the data of the General Administration of Chinese Customs, the Africa-China Cooperation Association for Development has reported that Moroccan exports to China reached their highest level in 2022, with nearly $910 million (909,513,488 DH) against $824 million (823,967,026 DH) in 2021, an increase of 9.41%.
With a total value of $526 million (526,169,529 DH), or 57.85% of total exports, electrical and related industrial equipment rank first in exports. Mineral exports occupy the second place with $245 million (245,117,323 DH) in 2022 against $240 million (238,894,895) in 2021, or 26.95% of total exports.
With a value of $76.28 million (76 MDH), or 8.39% of total exports, textiles and leather products complete the top 3. Textiles amount to $67.29 million (about 67 MDH) and leather exports to $1.95 million (about 2 MDH), it is specified.
The explosion of Moroccan exports to China is explained by the Sino-Moroccan strategic partnership agreement signed in 2019, but also the vision and initiative of King Mohammed VI targeting the rebound of the national economy impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
