Morocco: In the Rif, filming weddings is out of the question
While teams tasked with preventing photos and videos at weddings have lost ground in some regions of Morocco, the service continues to attract interest in the Rif. A professional in the sector says she continues to receive strong demand there, with far fewer conflicts with guests.
Nargis, who runs a specialized team working in several regions, told Hespress that demand has remained strong since she launched her business. Families hire her services to prevent images of the bride and groom or guests from being taken and then shared without their consent, particularly on social media.

In the Rif, the task is reportedly easier to enforce. According to the professional, most guests accept the instructions as soon as they arrive at the venue, and repeated interventions remain rare.
When someone tries to take photographs or film, team members generally limit themselves to reminding the person that the family asked for the ceremony not to be recorded. Nargis says that, in most cases, this remark is enough and that confrontational situations remain exceptional.
Few tensions with guests in the Rif
The professional attributes this ease to greater acceptance in the region of families’ choice to preserve the privacy of their ceremonies. She believes guests are more willing to respect a filming ban when it has been decided by the wedding organizers.
This contrasts with the situation described in other cities, where the same service can lead to confrontations when guests refuse to follow the instructions. In the Rif, Nargis says, on the contrary, that the teams’ role mainly consists of preventing problems rather than intervening afterward.
The proliferation of smartphones and the ease with which a photo or video can be published within seconds have also, in her view, increased the attention paid to the confidentiality of weddings.
