Morocco's Inflation Eases: Food Prices Drop as Consumer Index Falls 0.1% in July
The consumer price index (CPI) recorded a slight decrease of 0.1% in July 2025 compared to the previous month, according to data from the High Commission for Planning (HCP). Good news for Moroccan households.
This decrease is explained by the decrease in food prices of 0.5%. In detail, there is a notable drop in the prices of vegetables (-6.1%), fruits (-2.1%), fish and seafood (-0.9%). However, the prices of certain basic products remain on the rise. This is the case for oils and fats (+1.1%), meats (+0.8%), milk, cheese and eggs (+0.5%), as well as mineral waters, refreshing drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (+0.3%).
Regarding non-food products, the index increased by 0.2%, even though fuel prices fell by 1.6%. In general, the trend of non-food products remains under control, as does inflation over a year, which is good news for households.
Over the first seven months of 2025, consumer prices increased on average by 1.2% compared to the same period in 2024. By city, the largest decreases were noted in Laâyoune (-0.8%), Al Hoceïma (-0.6%) and Agadir (-0.3%). Increases were recorded in other cities such as Settat (+0.7%), Fès (+0.5%) and Tétouan (+0.3%).
