Moroccan nationals continue to rank among the main applicants for Schengen visas. With 620,000 requests filed in 2025, Morocco consolidates its position in a global ranking marked by a slow post-Covid recovery.
Morocco retains its fifth rank among nations submitting the most applications to travel to Europe. Preceded by China with 1.8 million requests, followed by Turkey, India and Russia, Moroccan citizens filed exactly 620,000 applications last year. This strong enthusiasm is part of a global upward trend. The various consulates received nearly 12 million short-stay requests in 2025. This influx confirms steady progress over the past two years, even though the counters remain far from the historic peak of 17 million registrations recorded in 2019.

Regarding final decisions, the European Commission counts more than 10 million authorizations granted, a volume higher than the previous year. While the global average rejection rate stagnates at 14.8%, serious gaps are widening depending on the territory. The proportion of rejections has for example sharply dropped for Algerians and Russians, while it has soared in Senegal, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Finally, just over half of approved travelers (51.2%) obtained the right to make multiple round trips within European territory, a facility in slight decline over one year, as is the direct issuance of documents at external borders.
