Morocco's World Cup Dream: Royal Air Maroc Launches Special Flights for Fans
The popular enthusiasm around the Moroccan national under-20 team, qualified for the World Cup final in Chile, is unabated. To allow supporters to experience this historic moment, Royal Air Maroc has announced the implementation of an exceptional system.
Royal Air Maroc has thus decided to schedule two direct special flights between Casablanca and Santiago, the Chilean capital, where the final will be played this Sunday, October 19. These flights will be operated by Boeing 787s, offering a total capacity of 600 seats. The fare has been set at 10,000 dirhams inclusive of taxes for a round-trip in economy class, a non-changeable and non-refundable ticket.
To facilitate the trip, the company specifies that the holders of these airline tickets will also be given free stadium entry tickets upon arrival in Santiago. However, the purchase formalities differ depending on the travelers’ situation with regard to Chilean visa requirements.
Moroccan citizens already in possession of a valid visa or those who are exempt can go directly to the RAM agency to purchase their ticket. For people subject to the visa requirement, a specific procedure has been put in place: they must first fill out an online form, then go to the RAM agency to make a reservation and complete another form that will be forwarded to the authorities to expedite the visa application. It is only once the visa is received by email that they can finalize the ticket purchase.
The flight schedules have also been communicated. The departures from Casablanca are scheduled for the night of Saturday to Sunday, at 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., for arrivals in Santiago at 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. local time, respectively. The return flights will leave Santiago in the night of Sunday to Monday, at 3:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., to land in Casablanca on Monday evening.
