MRE Salary Transfer Morocco Five Year Rule Requirements
Accepting a job in Morocco is not enough to guarantee an MRE the transfer of their salary abroad. To benefit from this possibility, they must notably prove that they were residing outside the country when recruited and that they exercised professional activity there for at least five years.
A Moroccan residing abroad recruited directly by a Moroccan company or administration must provide several documents to their bank. According to the Office of Exchange, they must present a certificate attesting that they were residing abroad at the time of recruitment.

To this document must be added one or more work certificates, or any other document allowing them to justify at least five years of professional activity abroad. The condition therefore does not only concern residence outside Morocco: the MRE must also prove that they actually worked there.
This rule concerns the transfer of salary abroad. It does not prevent the employee from receiving their remuneration in Morocco or using it locally. However, without the requested documents, the bank cannot execute the transfer within the framework provided for MRE work income.
A twelve-month limit
Transferable income includes salaries and wages earned in Morocco, as well as bonuses and gratuities. Allowances corresponding to the reimbursement of professional expenses are excluded from this scheme.
Transfers can be made each month, once the remuneration is due. When they have not been made regularly, the employee can request the transfer of arrears corresponding to the last twelve monthly payments already due. The regulations therefore do not provide for automatic bank catch-up over an unlimited period.
The scheme also covers the balance of account paid at the end of the contract. Severance payments can also be transferred when they result from a final court decision or an amicable agreement validated by the representative of the ministry responsible for Employment.
