The issue is not limited to changing schools. Children sometimes have to switch from one language of instruction to another and adapt to different curricula, which can complicate their integration into the Moroccan education system.

For Salem Fakir, this issue must be anticipated well before the move. He recommends that parents consider the age at which their children will make the transition, as well as the schools likely to accommodate them and the conditions under which they will be able to continue their education.

He also advocates specific measures to support these students, including financial assistance or easier access to schools that could make this transition simpler, without imposing excessively heavy additional expenses on families.

Schooling is, moreover, only one aspect of a permanent return. Housing, the parents’ employment, the possible creation of a business and the environment in which the family will settle must also be prepared in advance.

According to the MRE, returning to live in Morocco therefore cannot be considered an extension of the summer holidays. For a family with children already aged 11 or 12, the timing of the return can directly affect their ability to continue their schooling under good conditions.
