K-Pop Star Saiki Weesa Celebrates Moroccan Heritage at Korean Music Awards
Saiki Weesa, one of the members of the Japanese K-Pop group that has become famous in Japan and Korea, demonstrated great pride in his Moroccan and Korean origins when receiving an award.
During the Genie Music Awards, an event organized by the Korean music platform Genie Music, the Japanese K-pop group Psychic Fever of Exile Tribe received the Next Generation Global award. Saiki Weesa, also known as Weesa, a member of this group, took the opportunity to highlight his Korean and Moroccan origins.
"We are very happy to receive the Next Generation Global award as Psychic Fever. Personally, I am a mix of Korean and Moroccan, so I am very happy to receive this award in Korea!" declared the maknae (youngest member of the group). This sparked comments from Internet users.

Born in 2004 in Nagoya, Japan, Weesa (Saiki Weesa) is Moroccan through his father and Korean through his mother. As a child, he dreamed of a career similar to that of pop king Michael Jackson. He was revealed in December 2017 as a member of the Crasher Kidz group. In 2019, he became a member of Psychic Fever, a group that released its first album in July 2022.
