The Rabat airport is getting a makeover and quadrupling its capacity
The city of Rabat will soon be inaugurating its 69,000 m² terminal for the 2030 World Cup. This project will increase the capital’s capacity to 5 million passengers per year thanks to a complete modernization of Morocco’s airport infrastructure.
The Rabat-Salé airport is finalizing the extension of its terminal to quadruple its capacity. The infrastructure now includes state-of-the-art equipment, including six telescopic bridges, reinforced commercial areas, and a 1,300-space parking lot. This project, which has experienced several delays, allows the site to increase from 1.5 to 5 million passengers per year.

This development is part of a national investment plan of $2.8 billion. Morocco aims to double its total airport capacity to reach 80 million passengers per year by 2030. This strategic deployment aims to prepare the country for hosting the FIFA World Cup matches.
The Ryanair company is accompanying this growth by opening a new base in Rabat in April 2026. The carrier will station two aircraft there to provide 20 routes during the summer season.

The modernization program also concerns other hubs such as Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, and Fez. In Casablanca, the Mohammed V airport plans to open a "H"-shaped terminal by 2029. This future three-level facility will be able to handle up to 20 million passengers per year and will have a 3,700-meter runway.
