Rabat's Stadium Transformation: Morocco's Ambitious 210 Million Dirham Makeover

A new life for the Prince Moulay El Hassan stadium in Rabat. While the paint is not yet dry after its reconstruction, the stadium will undergo a facelift. The National Agency for Public Facilities (ANEP), acting on behalf of the Ministry of National Education, Early Childhood and Sports, has launched an open international tender to completely renovate the infrastructure. According to official documents, the overall project is estimated at 209.7 million dirhams.

The new modernization will focus on the structure of the stadium, the metalwork and all the essential infrastructures. The planned services include the integration of networks and internal finishes, which will allow the site to reach the highest international standards in terms of safety, comfort and playing surfaces. The company that wins the contract will have to pay particular attention to its ability to withstand weather and wind. Wind tunnel tests should be carried out on a model of the stadium - similar to the test procedures for an F1 car - with 400 pressure sensors.

The project will also have to comply with Eurocode (NF-EN) standards and include all internal checks of welds, assemblies and steel to ensure full compliance with the specifications. The new structure will be built in high-strength S355 steel of the highest quality. With a 10-year guarantee against corrosion, its lifespan is estimated at over 25 years.

This makeover is in line with Morocco’s policy of developing modern sports facilities and promoting its global aspirations in football.
