Robberies, escapes and fake contracts: Criminal Mustapha Iken avoids prison with 300 hours of community service!
The Liège Criminal Court has delivered its verdict concerning Mustapha Iken, a well-known figure in major crime. Despite a heavy criminal record, the robber was granted a sentence of 300 hours of community service for attempting to deceive the justice system in order to maintain his freedom.
According to information from La Dernière Heure, 39-year-old Mustapha Iken was found guilty of drafting and using a fake employment contract as well as five fake pay slips. These documents had been presented to the Brussels Sentence Enforcement Court (TAP) in December 2024 with the aim of obtaining or maintaining conditional release.

The investigation revealed that the company he claimed to be employed by, in the car sales sector, was in fact an "empty shell" since 2021. The company had no registered office, no actual activity, and not even a mailbox. Although Iken claimed to be earning a salary of 1,900 euros, no trace of any payment was found and no tax returns had been filed.
Mustapha Iken’s profile is particularly impressive: a repeat offender convicted of robberies, "tiger kidnappings" and prison escapes, he has accumulated a total of 43 years of prison sentences since 2005. Without his releases, his final release was scheduled for 2052. During the trial, he tried to portray himself as a victim, claiming he had been scammed by his co-defendant, Alexander, a notorious forger: "I’m not a scoundrel. He scammed me. He told me he was the boss," he said in court.

The court was not convinced by this line of defense, stressing that wiretaps proved his suspicious links with the forger. While Alexander was sentenced to 20 months in prison, Mustapha Iken got away with a 300-hour community service sentence. The prosecution had nevertheless requested a much heavier sentence, ranging from 20 to 30 months of actual imprisonment for the various defendants.
