Rotterdam is preparing for another evening of heavy crowds around the Lions of the Atlas. Before the round of 16 match Morocco–Canada, scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m., the city announces several street closures in the city center.
Morocco’s qualification for the World Cup round of 16 will also be decided in the streets of Rotterdam. The Dutch municipality expects strong mobilization of Moroccan supporters Saturday evening, on the occasion of the Morocco–Canada match, and has decided to strengthen traffic measures in the city center, according to Rijnmond.

From 8 p.m., several streets will be closed to traffic, including Coolsingel, Karel Doormanstraat, Eendrachtsplein and Mauritsweg. Stationsplein, Kruisplein and Weena bovenlangs will also be affected. The Weenatunnel will remain open and parking will remain accessible.
These restrictions come after the gatherings that followed Morocco’s victory against the Netherlands. Many Moroccan supporters took to the streets of Rotterdam, particularly on West-Kruiskade, with chants, horns and flares. Police and the mobile brigade eventually ended the festivities after the authorized time. Four people were arrested.

The city says it wants to ensure a "good and pleasant" evening, while avoiding blockages and disturbances. Residents and vehicles with destinations in the affected areas can still pass through, but must account for possible delays. In Rotterdam, Morocco–Canada will be as much a sporting event as an organizational test.
