Spanish highway toll increase 62% summer rates Malaga
Motorists traveling in southern Spain need to prepare their wallets. The concessionaire company of the AP-7 highway is applying a 62.91% increase on its summer rates between Malaga and Guadiaro.
Since June 1st and until September 30th, high season dictates its law on this road axis connecting Malaga province to Campo de Gibraltar. The complete journey now costs 19.55 euros, compared to just 12 euros in previous months, representing an increase of 7.55 euros for light vehicles. These new prices, available online, apply directly to passenger cars, motorcycles as well as vans and minibuses. They therefore concern the very many Moroccans living abroad (MRE) who use this road to travel to Morocco.

Inflation also affects professional transporters, although in different proportions. First category heavy trucks see their bill rise from 30.30 to 31.70 euros for the complete route, while larger trucks suffer an increase ranging from 37.70 to 51.40 euros. On the route, the three toll barriers of Calahonda, San Pedro Alcántara and Manilva all pass on this summer surge to their main lanes and exits.

As indicated by the Spanish agency Europa Sur, the pricing of the Ausol company is based on the actual use of different sections when entering or exiting the highway. For example, the passage at the Calahonda toll booth climbs to 9.25 euros, compared to 5.70 euros in low season. Free sections called variants remain however accessible before reaching the payment points, notably between Malaga and Fuengirola or around Puerto Banús.
