Heavy truck stolen in Morocco trapped on Spanish road, four arrests
A spectacular escape ended with the arrest of four individuals on Wednesday, April 15. The Civil Guard put an end to a lengthy chase after a heavy truck became definitively stuck on a winding road.
It all began in the Calatayud Community region when agents spotted four men crammed into the cab of a heavy truck. They ordered the driver to stop in a parking area on the roadside. The driver initially appeared to comply, but then evaded the vigilance of law enforcement and fled, as El Periódico de Aragón reports. In response to this escape, a vast blocking operation involving multiple local patrols was immediately deployed.

The pursuit continued through the afternoon on the road network of the area. The escape came to an abrupt end around 7 p.m. at the Balconchán pass. Engaged on road CV-632, the driver found himself completely unable to maneuver: the cumbersome vehicle became wedged in a tight curve, blocking any possibility of moving forward or fleeing by vehicle.
Forced to abandon their immobilized means of transport, the driver and his three passengers, all of Moroccan origin, attempted to escape on foot. Civil Guard agents launched a pursuit on foot and managed to neutralize the four individuals. The suspects were then taken directly to the Daroca station, where judicial procedures were initiated.

The suspicious behavior of the fugitives prompted authorities to deploy canine units to inspect any hidden compartments in the truck in search of drugs, but no substances were discovered. Material checks nevertheless revealed the fraudulent origin of everything: the cab came from a robbery committed in Morocco, while the trailer had been stolen from Madrid.
