Despite the adoption in 2015 of the national anti-corruption strategy, corruption is not declining in Morocco due to the main resistances encountered, both at the intra-state level and throughout society, and in particular in the economic field. Ahmed Bernoussi, Secretary General of Transparency Maroc, paints a bleak picture.

Morocco has not made any significant progress in the fight against corruption. With a score of 40/100, it even loses one point compared to last year, ranking 86th out of 180 countries ranked, compared to 80th position a year earlier. This is the finding of the new Corruption Perceptions Index 2020 (CPI 2020) of Transparency International.
