Trump launches the American economic offensive in the Moroccan Sahara

The American president wants to give Washington’s support for Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara an economic dimension. In a message addressed to King Mohammed VI on the occasion of Throne Day, he says he has instructed his teams to deepen cooperation with the Kingdom.

“I have asked my teams to encourage economic and social development with Morocco, including in the territory of Western Sahara,” Donald Trump writes in this message published by the United States Embassy in Morocco.

Washington wants to bring it to an end now
Donald Trump also reaffirms that the United States recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and considers the autonomy plan to be “the sole basis” for a fair and lasting solution.
“Any other path prolongs the status quo and is unacceptable,” he states. The dispute “must end now,” adds the American president, who promises that Washington will continue to push for a settlement.
