In Africa, the country that has vaccinated its population the most is Morocco, with a national vaccination campaign launched in January 2021 and which aims to reach 80% of the population by June. While Morocco has already vaccinated more than 4 million people, some African countries are just starting the campaign, and others are not even considering it yet.

Morocco is one of the top 10 countries that have successfully met the challenge of vaccination against Covid-19. The ranking was made on Wednesday by the Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Morocco.

After Ghana, it is the turn of Morocco , other African countries and several Arab countries to receive, in the next few days, the anti-Covid vaccines from the Covax facility. This announcement was made by Rosie Dyasl, spokesperson for the British government in the Middle East and North Africa.

In terms of Covid-19 vaccination, Morocco has achieved in a few days a score that several other countries known for their progress in the field of Health have not yet reached, says Professor Abdellah Baddou in an interview. As of February 16, 2021, Morocco has already vaccinated 1,904,169 people.

Morocco is benefiting from an additional 1,881,160 doses under the WHO’s Covax initiative. The first forecast regarding the distribution of vaccines to participating countries was published this Wednesday by the Global Alliance for Vaccines (Gavi), the body that manages the initiative.

Moroccan hospitals operate with a ratio of 7.1 doctors per 10,000 inhabitants, compared to about twenty doctors (per 10,000 inhabitants), as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). In total, the kingdom needs nearly 100,000 doctors and nurses to cover its medical staff needs.

Contrary to forecasts, collective immunity against the coronavirus will not be achieved in 2021, said a senior scientist from the World Health Organization. The international organization could also recommend the use of masks and compliance with restrictive measures.

The project to set up an industrial production unit for vaccines, which is part of the strategic plan, was the subject of a study by the Board of Directors of the Pasteur Institute in Morocco, during its last ordinary session held on Wednesday, December 30.

Diabetics are the ones who develop the most severe forms of the new coronavirus. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 18.3% of Covid-19 deaths in Africa are linked to diabetes.

Saad Eddine El Otmani sought to reassure Moroccans who still have questions about the reliability of the vaccine against Coronavirus , that the choice made by the Kingdom meets very specific standards.
