Zakat Al Fitr in Morocco: Here's how much you'll have to pay before the end of Ramadan

The Supreme Council of Ulema specified, in an opinion published on Wednesday, March 11, the modalities of the mandatory end-of-Ramadan charity. The reference amount has not been modified compared to last year, remaining officially set at 23 dirhams for each member of the household.

This Zakat traditionally corresponds to a prophetic bushel (Saâ nabaoui), which is the equivalent of four amdâd per person. In volume, this represents about 2.5 kg of cereals or flour, a calculation based on the essential consumption of the Moroccan population.

Believers can pay it two to three days before Eid Al Fitr. The religious institution emphasizes that it is possible to pay this contribution in monetary form, thus offering practical flexibility to families to close this sacred month in serenity.

However, the Council has recalled that this rate constitutes a minimum basis for contributors. "However, any person can pay a higher amount or quantity if they have the means," the organization specifies, encouraging solidarity with the less fortunate.
