Tangier will have a front-row seat to an exceptional astronomical phenomenon on August 2, 2027. The city will experience a total solar eclipse, with nearly five minutes during which the Moon will completely obscure the solar disk.
NASA confirms that the path of totality will cross northern Morocco, as well as several countries in southern Europe and North Africa.

In Tangier, the eclipse will begin partially at around 7:40 a.m. According to Timeanddate’s calculations, the maximum will occur at around 8:47 a.m., and totality will last precisely 4 minutes and 51 seconds.
Tangier already recommended to travelers
The Moroccan city is already appearing among the destinations recommended abroad for witnessing the phenomenon. British media outlets are notably advising travelers wishing to observe a total eclipse that the United Kingdom will not experience in 2027 to visit Tangier.
With nearly five minutes of totality and its proximity to Europe, Tangier could therefore attract many astronomy enthusiasts and travelers coming specifically for the event.
