Kénitra-Marrakech TGV Project Acquires 13 Hectares Mohammedia Land
The high-speed rail line project between Kénitra and Marrakech is acquiring more than 13 hectares of land in Mohammedia. The plots, previously attached to the forest domain, will be transferred to the public railway domain.
Two decrees signed on July 2, 2026 declare the withdrawal of several plots from the forest regime to be in the public interest, allowing for the construction of the future high-speed line.

The first operation concerns 3 hectares, 45 ares and 91 centiares located in the municipality of Beni Yakhlef. The second covers 9 hectares, 55 ares and 26 centiares distributed between the municipalities of Chellalate and Mohammedia.
In total, the Kénitra-Marrakech High-Speed Train will thus mobilize 13 hectares, 1 are and 17 centiares, or just over 130,000 square meters, in the prefecture of Mohammedia.
Both decisions appear in Official Bulletin No. 7527 of July 20, 2026.
This is not a classic expropriation of private owners. The land in question will first be withdrawn from the forest regime, then integrated into the State’s private domain before being transferred to its public domain for the needs of the railway line.
Nearly 5.8 million for reforestation elsewhere
The commercial value of the first plots was set at 4,842,740 dirhams, while that of the second set reaches 955,260 dirhams. The total amount of the operation thus amounts to 5,798,000 dirhams.

This sum must be paid by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, through the National Railway Office, to the fund responsible for the reuse of State property. The amount is expressly intended for the acquisition of land for reforestation.
