Moroccan Craft Exports Surge: Traditional Clothing Leads with 102% Growth
Once again, exports of Moroccan crafts are on the rise with double-digit growth rates in the first quarter of this year, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Air Transport, Crafts and Social Economy.
In detail, Moroccan traditional clothing is up sharply by 102% in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2018, accounting for a market share of nearly 25%, it is stated.
Next come the copperware products, which are experiencing a growth rate of 61% compared to last year, then the jewelry items and footwear items, which are recording increases of 28% and 23% respectively in the first quarter.
The other products are not left behind, as pottery and stone items are up 16%, but take second place in terms of turnover with a market share of 17%, then carpets with 17% as well.
According to the ministry, Belgium saw a 105% increase in demand, followed by Spain (29%), France (23%) and the United Kingdom (11%). Other countries are experiencing good growth, such as Japan (42%), Arab countries (34%), the United States (28%) and the European market in general (37%).
