Moroccan Dirham Surges Against Dollar as Official Reserves Hit 414.8 Billion
The Moroccan dirham appreciated by 0.6% against the US dollar and 0.2% against the euro during the period from September 4 to 10, 2025, according to data published by Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
The official reserve assets (AOR) stood at 414.8 billion dirhams (MMDH) on September 4, up 1% from the previous week and 14% year-on-year, the Moroccan central bank said.
Regarding the volume of BAM’s interventions, it amounted to an average of 133.1 MMDH per day during this week, divided between 7-day advances (56.2 MMDH), longer-term repurchase agreements (40.9 MMDH) and guaranteed loans (36.1 MMDH).
On the interbank market, the average daily trading volume stood at 5.2 MMDH and the interbank rate averaged 2.25%.
On the stock market, the MASI fell by 1.5% during the week, bringing its performance since the beginning of the year to 34.3%.
Similarly, the weekly trading volume fell from 3 MMDH to 1.5 MMDH week-on-week, mainly on the central equity market.
As of September 12, 2025, one US dollar was worth 9.012 dirhams, while one euro was exchanged for 10.567 dirhams.
