Moroccan MP dies at 41, uncle blames broken hospital elevator
The death at 41 of Istiqlal MP Hicham Amine Chafik has raised questions within his family. His uncle blames the care he received at the hospital and claims that a broken elevator may have complicated his transfer as his condition deteriorated sharply.
Hicham Amine Chafik, MP for the Médiouna constituency, died on Monday, August 17, after several weeks of health problems. According to Alyaoum24, his symptoms began around mid-July with severe back pain.

Family members claim that after he was hospitalized and underwent several examinations, he underwent a procedure during which a blood vessel was allegedly injured, causing significant bleeding and requiring a transfusion. His condition allegedly continued to deteriorate before he was transferred to the military hospital in Rabat, where he died.
A broken elevator at the time of his transfer
During the funeral in Médiouna, his uncle Abdelhak Chafik, a former MP, publicly questioned the conditions of his care. He claims that, during an acute crisis, transferring his nephew within the hospital was allegedly complicated by a broken elevator.
According to him, this incident may have contributed to the deterioration of his condition. He also criticizes the Ministry of Health for what he considers negligence in caring for the parliamentarian.
